I have begun researching some pharmaceutical typefaces to use for my branding project.
I started out using helvetica as a kind of building block, I like to use helvetica to begin with because I find its a perfect amalgam of compact, slim, sleek and clean, that will show me wether I need a slimmer or a more decorative typeface next.
Above is my mock up design for the brand BKIND, the typeface used is helvetica bold. So this was my starting point and then I conducted some research and came across other typefaces which I thought could do the job a bit better.
I tried (top left) FF DIN next, because I thought this typeface had a bit more substance and character.
For a while I was really liking where this was going. The typeface used here is FIN. However it didn’t last too long, because I started to feel that this was very male orientated and not unisex like the brand needs to be at all
Putting them together I think the helvetica which is the slimmer text of the two, conveys a much more unisex message. So now my research is going to go in the direction of slim text, so when somebody reads it they don’t see a feminine or masculine product.
