I am currently focussing on brand application . I am applying my design onto items in which a customer will interact with. I am doing this to build a better understanding of how the brand will look when put into the real world.
In this ipad/iphone mock up I was trying to squeeze in a lot of clickable icons, like About Us, Explore, Contact, Purchase. The usual stuff you expect to see on website and apps. However I decided to simplify the design and just go with Explore. I feel that it gives a stronger feeling about the brand, its more inviting and intriguing. Less is more.
I have created business card mock ups, I am really enjoying the ink splat, I like how it spans across the whole area really embracing the fluidness of it.
When I started to think about embracing the fluidness of the splat and let it encompass the whole surface area, I thought about a magazine spread where the design runs across the front and back just like above.
Working on generating these mock ups is helping me understand how and where my designs need to change. I’m enjoying how the ink splat on the ipad/iphone compared to the ink splat on the computer and business cards are different. However they all fit as one family, I believe the continuity is working throughout the branding.
I now need to focus on producing some mock ups of containers for the product itself.
