I have been finalising my logo and seeing how it could work as a sign. I have been working with the letter press experiments that I did. I cleaned up the body of text, by blacking out parts that hadn’t printed properly, but whilst still not trying to lose the texture letter press gives.
I think this is working well as a body of text. I will continue with this now, it has a more authentic and unique look because it’s letter press, it took a long time to set the letters and get it correct, but it was worth it, it’s much better than if I had just typed it out, I learnt more about my text from hand setting the type.
I have been illustrating 3 stones to communicate the name visually. Also I think it creates movement, which is appropriate because my cafe is about helping people move forward.
However, having said all of that, I don’t think its very successful. It just doesn’t seem to fit. It is over complicating the design as well. So I decided to take it out.
The only way I thought it could work was with this lay out. But I’ll see.
I then starting dropping my design onto, a wooden background to replicate a wooden sign.
This last one came from trying to incorporate the illustration, but without the illustration the design has a well balanced feel.
