My first attempts at an infographic were unsuccessful, they failed to show any statistical evidence or even really any information, so by definition it wasn’t an infographic. I have narrowed into a design aesthetic using colour and letterpress. I have been researching Alan Kitching, and have come across some inspirational pieces to influence my infographic (images above), which I find inspiring because of the use of different colours and dynamic layout.
The above black and white image is the bare bones of my new infographic. I intend to work in the letterpress room and print the above image in various different colours. Afterwards I can bring the prints into Photoshop and further experiment with layout, point size etc.
I have been experimenting with colour when using letterpress (above), and started to achieve the blending of colours that I want to move forward with. You can see a progress of quality because it wasn’t an instant result, it was definitely trail and error, learning as I went.
The two above images are when I started to succeed with the blending of colours, now I know how to achieve this, my next session in the letterpress room I will be generating the letters for my infographic and new logo designs.
