I have been working on some separate poster designs that will work together by using Once Upons brand colours and tone of voice. I began some experimentation with the phrase beginning/middle/end, to communicate the feeling of a story.
Because my logo’s letters are set to a 10% italics, to build a stronger continuity throughout my branding, I thought the posters would be more successful if the beginning/middle/end was also set at 10% italics.
The dimensions of the posters are 40×75 cms to break away from the conventional A1, A2 etc. to give it more of its own identity. I think the dimensions are successful because a one word poster is quite simple , so to have a slimmer poster works well. I also think they resemble large book-marks, which could be a fun aspect to pursue further.
I then started to develop some quote posters. I have gathered quotes from renowned authors from a wide spectrum of writings. I think these work well because they’re using Once Upons branding, whilst communicating a positive message about reading, which is what my whole project is about.
Because I thought the first three posters were border-line too serious, I started to gather quotes that were much more light hearted. I was generating all these ideas to take 3 posters only forward, however now that I have exported them and looked at them all as a whole, I feel they are all just as successful as each other.
What I am really focussing on here is the development of tone of voice, even though I have used quotes, and they’re not necessarily my own voice, I feel that all together they can be considered Once Upons inspirational tone of voice and positive messaging, which is what I want to aim for.
